Bearly Awake Cafe was born from Alex’s lifelong passion for connecting and getting to meet with new people. What began as a childhood dream to help and care for others by becoming a doctor. It found a new form through coffee and baked goods, along Cameron’s unwavering support. After two-years of hard work, and being declined back to back for brick and mortar spaces. we were able to launch Bearly Awake Coffe cart.
At Bearly Awake, we blend bold Mexican and Asian flavors in creative ways you’ve never tasted or seen before. We try to create flavors that are deeply rooted within both our cultures. Our mission is simple: to create a space where everyone feels welcome. No matter your background, we want you to feel at home, and hopefully bring you closer to what Mexican and Asian cultures have to offer.
Our name, inspired by a little blue teddy bear, reflects the comfort and warmth we hope to offer with every cup. Just like a childhood teddy bear could brighten your day, we hope our drinks do the same. We did not want to give up on our dreams, and we found our tiny space within our cart, the best form to share our story.
Alex was born in Hidalgo, Mexico, and brought to the U.S. at the age of 8 after finally reuniting with his single mother who made the painful decision to leave him behind for six years in order to build a better future. Raised alongside his younger siblings, Bianca and Christian, Alex grew up surrounded by sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love. Raised in Duluth, Georgia; he found the blends of many cultures inspiring and eye-awakening.
As a kid, he dreamed of becoming a doctor or nurse to help people feel better, and bring a smiles to their faces. While that path hasn’t been reached yet, he found a different way to heal and uplift others: through coffee and baked goods. The joy of watching someone take a sip or a bite and light up with a smile, that’s what drives him every day.
At Bearly Awake Cafe, Alex brings bold and nostalgic flavors from his childhood in Mexico and blends them with the creativity of someone who sees coffee as a canvas. Every drink is made with care, culture, and a dash memories of his once childhood home.
This journey wouldn’t be possible without his family, culture, or all the amazing new people he has cross paths with. Especially Lisa, his mother-in-law, who’s shown him unwavering support and love like no other.
Alex’s mission is more than building a coffee business. He wants to help immigrants shine, to show the world that they are kind, hard-working, and full of stories, dreams, and love to share. Through Bearly Awake, he’s not just serving coffee; he’s serving community, culture, and a little piece of himself with everything his creations.
